Introducing Our New Wireless Interconnected Smoke Alarm

We are pleased to introduce our new Wireless Interconnected Smoke Alarm – ACGL-001WXPE.

With interconnected smoke alarms its now required under the New Zealand Building Code for new builds and significant alterations to have a solution that is reliable, compliant, and adaptable across a wide range of properties. The ACGL-001WXPE provides an effective pathway to meeting these requirements while avoiding the complexity and costs often associated with hard-wired systems.

The ACGL-001WXPE is a photoelectric, wireless interconnected smoke alarm with a sealed 10-year battery, delivering consistent performance over its full service life with minimal maintenance. Wireless interconnection ensures that when one alarm activates, all linked alarms sound simultaneously, providing comprehensive early warning throughout the dwelling.

This device has been designed to meet modern compliance expectations and is compatible with other commonly used wireless smoke alarm systems, allowing flexibility in both new installations and upgrades. It complies with AS3786:2014 + A1 + A2 and NZS 4514:2021, aligning with the interconnected smoke alarm provisions of the NZ Building Code.

Wireless interconnected alarms offer a practical and cost-effective alternative to hard-wired systems, particularly in retrofit scenarios where cabling is disruptive or impractical, while still maintaining a high standard of reliability and occupant safety.

While interconnected smoke alarms are not yet included as a requirement under the Residential Tenancies Act (with no confirmed timeline from HUD or MBIE), they do represent the new elevated baseline for compliance where a property is required to meet the updated Building Code. Installing these devices ensures properties are aligned with current regulatory standards and future-ready for further legislative change.
